THE BATTALION Thursday, February 3, 1966 Page 8 College Station, Texas A&M, Kilgore Plan Co-op Grad Program Texas A&M is firming up plans to teach graduate engineering courses in conjunction with Kil gore College next fall. The extension program, one of five which A&M’s College of Engineering offers in industrial areas, will provide evening class es for East Texas plant engi neers who need background in new technology. “We believe this program will be of real assistance to the heavy industry of East Texas,” Dr. G. D. Hallmark, head of A&M’s De partment of Electrical Engineer ing, noted. “Texas A&M is pleased to provide this service.” The September pilot program will be a course in electrical engineering: linear network anal ysis. Future offerings may in clude mathematics, chemical en gineering and other disciplines, as requested by industry. Dr. S. L. Canterbury, dean of engineering at Kilgore College who earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at A&M in 1945, will coordinate the East Texas extension program. Recommend ed for associate membership in A&M’s graduate faculty, he will teach some of the courses; others will be taught by regular faculty members from College Station. Classes will meet on the Kilgore College campus. The cost of classes, including an instructor’s pay and travel, will be borne by the student or his company, Hallmark said. In addition, a registration fee of $10 per semester hour for A&M and a $5 per semester fee will be added for use of Kilgore College’s facilities. Courses may be used for credit toward the Master of Engineering degree, he pointed out. Requirements for enrollment include a bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics or engineer ing, and admission to graduate study by Texas A&M. Appli cation forms are available from Dr. Canterbury, Hallmark said. Tunisians Enroll For Ag Training Fourteen future agriculture teachers at Chott Maria Agricul tural College in Tunisia are scheduled to register as fresh men this spring semester at Tex as A&M. The Tunisians will work to ward B.S. degrees in different fields of agriculture. Chott Maria Agricultural Col lege is a land-grant type of school near Sousse, Tunisia. The new trainees comprise the fourth group of Tunisians to par ticipate in the United States Agency for International Devel opment at A&M.
