wr- r- I Page 8 College Station, Texas Thursday, November 4, 1965 THE BATTALIOt / \ Fish To Meet Rice Owlets In Houston Eyeing relief from a duo of losses at home, the Aggie Fish hit the road Thursday night for Houston and a 7:30 clash with the Rice Owlets. Smarting from home defeats to the TCU Wogs and Baylor Cubs, Coach Jake Helm’s Fish hope a change of scenery will effect a change on the field, as the winner’s circle continue to evade them. The Owlets captured their ini tial win of the season last Thurs day, by defeating the Texas Tech Picadors, 21-9. The Owlets now stand 1-2, the Fish 0-2. Fish defenders have had their troubles, allowing 735 yards total offense through two encounters, although linebackers Bill Hobbs, Joe Wood and Bill Weaver dis play power for the future in Ag gie football. The offense, while a coach’s dream on paper, has limped for a meager 174 yards per game. The quarterback rivals, Bob Long and Charlie Riggs, attempt to pull the infected Fish out of offensive oblivion. Long tops Fish ground gainers with 51 yards while Riggs commands the airways with 13 completions in 28 attempts for 176 yards and one touchdown. Big end Tom my Maxwell has snared six tos ses for 119 yards and one TD. A tremendous help for the Fish cause in Mike Caswell, punter par excellence. Caswell gives the Fish a head start with his booming punts, now sailing for a healthy 42.7 yard average. Big gun for the Owlets is Robby Shelton, who lofts passes to end Larry Davis from the quarterback slot and bats them down from his safety spot on defense.
