The Texas Aggie Band, pre paring its halftime drill for the A&M - Southern Methodist game here Nov. 6, has similiar prob lems, reports Lt. Col. E. V. Ad ams. He is in his 21st year as band director. The band is installing forma tions for the game that will be the highlight of the first reunion of former band members. The or ganization marches 240 men — 12 across the front and 20 ranks deep—and is operating with just 11 alternates. That can be a thin margin. The colonel said one musician recent ly returned from an appendecto my just before the first band ap pearance of the season, All-Col lege Night. To offset the mem ber gained, a freshman march ing in the Fort Worth Corps trip planted his foot to make a turn, slipped on brick paving and fell to his knees. He suffered a torn ligament and is out for the year. Another frosh is out with a sprained ankle, injured in a fall. The band will field 240, how ever. That’s been its marching size since 1954.
