Prof To Present ter At Confab Pap< Dr. John E. Pearson, head of the Business Administration School at Texas A&M, will pre sent a paper at the International Data Processing Conference in Dallas Friday. Titled ‘Training and Data Pro cessing Management,” the paper will be given Friday morning during the three-day conference. Dr. W. C. House, assistant pro fessor in the Department of Man agement, and G. H. Dippel, in structor in the Department of Business Analysis, will accom pany Pearson. HAWAIIAN VACATION WINNER Ray Foster, manager of Piggly Wiggly here, presents Richard Younts and his wife, Pat, with their winners’ certificate in the Hawaiian Vacation Contest sponsored by the store. The meeting in Room 146 of the Physics Building at Texas A&M starts at 9 a.m. It is open to all science teach ers of neighboring towns, accord ing to Coleman Loyd, coordinator of National Science Foundation programs. A&M and the NSF Academic Year Institute will bring a number of science edu cation authorities to the campus this year, of which Githens is the first. The quantitative physical sci ence course was developed by Githens, professor of science edu cation at Duke, by teaching in junior high school several years. The course stresses group work with equipment kept in stock, with minimum time spent for lec turing. He plans to bring repre sentative equipment for the dem onstration class Saturday. A&M staff and faculty mem bers interested in science educa tion may meet informally with Githens Friday between 9 and 11 a.m. in Room 344 of the Phy sics Building. The coffee pre cedes a Friday afternoon present ation to AYI participants in Room 146 at 1 p.m. John D. Gay, senior account ing major at Texas A&M, has been awarded a scholarship by the Houston Chapter of the Fin ancial Executives Institute. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lau rence H. Gay, 8707 Westview, Houston, he received the award of $200 and certificate at a Tues day meeting. Dr. John Pear son, head of the Business Ad ministration Division, announced the award. Three other scholarships went to University of Texas and Uni versity of Houston students. A Distinguished Student three of five semesters, Gay was select ed for his outstanding academic record, career ambition to do in dustrial accounting and leader ship. The Spring Branch High School graduate is Deputy Corps Com mander of the A&M Corps of Cadets. In the 1700s a popular cus tom at Valentine’s Day was the sending of puzzle Valentine cards. Charles F.
