Hackney, a teacher train er for nine years with Texas A&M’s Engineering Extension Service, has been named head of vocational industrial teacher training for TEES. He replaces F. J. Konecny, who also was assistant director. Konecny recently became assist ant director of the James Con- nally Technical Institute at Waco. TEES Director H. D. Bearden announced Hackney’s promotion. The teacher training staff pro vides facilities for recruitment, counseling, selection and pre-em ployment training for industrial teaching positions in public schools. Hackney earned a M.Ed. degree in industrial education at A&M and a B.B.A. at Baylor Univer sity. He is working toward a doc torate in education at A&M. Prior to joining TEES, Hack ney was a district supervisor for the Vocational Services Division of the Texas Education Agency for seven years. He taught two years in Waco Public Schools, operated a marine supply com pany in Denison, instructed at the U. S. Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, and for Boeing Aircraft Company, Seattle, Wash. Hackney is a member of the American Vocational Association, National Association of Indus trial Teacher Educators, Texas Association for Directors and Supervisors of T & I Education, American Technical Education Association, Vocational Industrial Club of Texas, Iota Lambda Sig ma, Phi Delta Kappa and the National Society for Programmed Instruction.
