Check That Car Wait just a minute, Aggie! That’s right, it’s you I am talk ing to. You, the one just starting out for home—climbing into that ’50 Ford, loaded down with six riders and all that baggage. Have you checked your car’s condition ? No, I don’t mean the gas. I know you’ll get a buck from each of the riders. I mean the tires, the windshield wipers, the brakes, lights, all the rest. Got safety belts in your car? They save lives. Take a peek into any highway patrol car—they’ve got ’em. Those belts keep you from being bounced around the road if an accident forces your doors open. How about a first-aid kit? Come in mighty handy when you need them. Flashlight in your glove com partment? Most lights don’t cost too much, but if you drive at night you’ll give your left arm for some thing better than a cigarette- lighter if you have a flat. Speaking of flats, is your jack and tire-tool in the trunk? Do you have a Ibg wrenph? A few extra tools may prove valuable. Check that spare tire while you’re at it. Sure, all you need is gas to run a car, but some common sense be fore an accident is sure a lot better than all the planning there is after “Hello, Thrift Shop? I have some things I want to dispose of ... A pair of skates, size 3. A pair of aluminum stilts. Some good clothing, too. My little niece was ... she ... won't be needing them ... ever again." Tirh/ers kill and cripple more children lhan any disease! We have vaccine for polio. We’re zeroing in on cancer. But what are we doing about the worst child killer of all—traffic accidents ? Here’s one thing you can do. Write your local enforcement of ficials. Tell then): "I Support Strict Law Enforcement!" Let your police and courts know you’re behind their efforts to protect your children. For where traffic laws are strictly en forced and obeyed, deaths go down! Hundreds of communities have proved it. # Published to save lives in cooperation with The Advertising Council and The National Safety Council 'W Check your opinions against L M’s Campus Opinion Poll 15 O How important is it for the U.S, to be the first to reach the moon?
