lack to School Edition BATTALION Published Daily on the Texas A&M College Campus SECTION II COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1959 Cadet Officers Announced; Others Slated in October Cadet Colonel Bill Heye, electrical engineering major from San Antonio, will assume command of the Corps of Cadets this fall as Cadet Colonel of the Corps. Heye served as corps sergeant major during the latter part of the term last spring. Grant Given Research The A&M Research Foundation recently received a $17,000 grant for the National Science Founda tion to support research in the De partment of Oceanography and Meteorology. The grant will support a two- year study of the reef environ ments and the carbonate deposits of Campeche Bank for a better un derstanding of the relationship of the deposits, biology and the water mass. Dr. R. G. Bader, associate pro fessor of oceanography, is the principal investigator and Brian Logan, department research sci entist, is the associate investiga tor. The first list of appointments of cadet officers has been an nounced by President Earl Rudder. Remaining appointments will be made sometime after Oct. 1, ac cording to Col. Joe E. Davis, com mandant of the college.
