Since the meet has been just re cently established all first place winners we£e entered on the books as official records. Junior and senior divisions of the club participated and the results are as follows: Randy Ransdati.1, Leslie Brusse, Bill Ewens and Jared Hitchcock took first place in the junior boys’ 200 yard medley relajr with a time of 2:10.3 and a first place in the junior boys,’ 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:52.0. Joe Brusse took a third place in the senior men’s 400 yard free style. Jared Hitchcock took third place in the junior boys’ 100 yard but terfly. Susanne Callaway, Susan Myers, Barbara Ewens and Sharon Covey took a third place in the junior gilds’ 200 yard freestyle relay. Jared Hitchcock won fourth place in the junior boys’ 100 yard freestyle. Joe Brusse won a fourth place in the senior men’s 100 yard but terfly. Sharon Covey took a fourth place in the junior girls’ 100 yard but terfly and a fifth place in the jun ior girls’ 100 yard freestyle. L McLaughlin Conducts Research Thomas L. McLaughlin, A&M student from Bryan, is engaged in original research on anaplasmosis, a blood destroying disease of cattle. Under the dixection of Dr. T. E. Fi'anklin, associate professor in vetexdnary medicine, McLaughlin is studying the mici-oscopic organ ism “anaplasma mai’ginale,” the causative agent of anaplasmosis. The research is chiefly concerned with an attempt to study blood cells passing from a living infected calf into a special chamber where time-lapse-phase photomicrographs will be made of the disease-causing organism. Thi’ough his technique, which is new to science, it will be possible, it is pointed out, to study blood cells in the process of becoming in fected with the microoi'ganism. In addition, the results of this work will, for the first time, expose the life cycle and basic mox-phology of the organism, it is declared. Turner Receives Doctor’s Degree W. M. (Bill) Turner, coordinator of music, has received his Doctor of Education degree from North Texas State College at Denton. Turner has been with A&M since 1944. Turner also is director of the famed Singing Cadets.
