It was the throwing arm of Quar terback Jimmy Wright that pro vided the difference between the alumni and the varsity, as he hit his receivers 10 of 21 times for 132 yards via air and two touchdowns. Bull-like Gordon LeBeouf, full back for the varsity squad, stole individual rushing honors with 110 yaixis the hard way and the first varsity touchdown. The alumni’s George Gillar was a close second with 109 yards to his ci’edit. The exes opened the, scoring pa rade with a 55-yard march down the field in 11 plays, climaxed by Wright’s eight-yard pass into the end zone to John Crow and the touchdown. Intramurals Wednesday and Thursday were light days on the intramurals scene, with only four rifle matches and four handball matches being played. In class B rifle league, A Vets outshot A Transportation by a 334- 209 tally in league B. In league C, A Quartermaster took Squadron 2, 346-310. C Infantry shot down Squadron 7 with ease in league D, scoring 438 points to the airmen’s 283. In the final match, A-AAA won over Squadron 10, 353-302 in league E. All games in the handball courts were in Class B Wednesday. C Armor outscored Squadron 3, 2-1 in league A. Squadron 8 dropped their game to Squadron 4, also by a 2-1 tally, in league K. In league L, Leggett forfeited to Milner. Neither team showed up for the scheduled match between Bizzell and College View in league L. The Reds came charging out of the dressing room after the half to romp 80 yards up the field in seven plays for a touchdown. Dudley, quarterbacking the Reds, scored the TD when he took the ball on the 46 yard line, cut down the middle and outraced his pursuers to the goal line and six points. Dudley’s try for the extra points was no good. Gillar stepped into the spotlight for the alumni in the third period, sparking his team for 67 yards in 8 plays and a touchdown. The jar ring fullback took the handoff from Wright on the 20-yard marker and drove straight up the middle for the TD. Lloyd Taylor tried to i-un the ball over for the extra points and was stopped short of the goal. The game ended spring training for the Aggies, their first under the single wing mentor Jim Myers.
