Dike’s return brings the Frogs to near full strength and brings their backfield back up to par for the first time this year. He re ceived a severe gash on his left leg in TCU’s 13-13 tie with Kan sas. “There’s no doubt about it, we’ll be improved with Buddy back in there,” said Goach Abe Martin. The sophomoric Froggies, grow ing stronger with each game, at tempt beating an Aggie club which hasn’t lost in 14 games. And the big gun in their attack, Jim Shofner, a senior from Fort Worth, continues a merry pace in rushing yardage gained and punt returns. Shofner, a 6-1, 185-pound left halfback, is 50 yards ahead of Texas’ Walt Fondren with 343 Looking for a solid, satisfying career with a vigorous com pany in a growing industry? Rounding’ out the Froggie start ing backfield are quarterback Dick Finney and right half Marvin Las ater. Finney, in his first two games this year threw only three passes and completed none, but is' still the No. 1 TCU quarterback. TCU Coach Martin called his play selection against Ohio State “as fine a job as I’ve seen. He knew where to hit them on every play.” The Frogs upset highly re garded Ohio State 18-14 on the Buckeyes home field three weeks ago. It remained, however, for Finney to have his greatest offensive night of his college; career last Saturday night in Alabama as the Frogs won 28-0. He set up one touch down with a 65-yard pass to Mar vin Lasater and romped 49 yards for another score. Hi)? defense was superb. Finney gained 72 yards total for the evening. Lasater is a sophomore from San Angelo who ut season’s be ginning was termed an excellent prospect and has shown nothing to take the sheen away from that promise. Mention of the Froggie backfield must include another tremendous sophomore. Jack Spikes, moved to fullback when Dike was injured, has been dropped to the second team full back slot after earlier this season winning the starting right half slot. Last year he was named the top back of all the SWC freshmen footballers. He’s 6-2 and weighs 200 pounds. Old LOU Says- “Everybody goes on the T. C. U. Corps Trip to Ft. Worth.
