Gresham, of Calhoun, Ky., and the first American soldier to be killed “facing the enemy” in World War I. Anniversary 90th Infantry (Army Re serve) Division units in 42 Texas cities observe the for- i tieth birthday of the divis ion Sunday. Governor Price Daniel has call ed attention to the division’s an niversary by proclaiming 90th In fantry Division week in Texas. The 90th was organized on Aug ust 25, 1917, at Camp Travis in San Antonio. Originally composed of men from Texas and Oklahoma, the 90th saw combat in both world wars and collected eight campaign credits during fighting in Europe. In 1947 the 90th became a re serve division. All of its members now come from Texas. The div(£- ion’s 100 units are scattered from Sherman to Brownsville and from Del Bio to Jasper. Division headquarters are loca ted in Austin. Commander of the 90th is Ma jor General Earl Rudder, Texas land commissioner. Assistant commander is a San Antonio in surance man, Brigadier General William J. Sutton. The artillery commander is Brigadier General Graber Kid well, a Dallas engineer. The 90th is one of ten reserve divisions throughout the United States scheduled by the Depart ment of the Army to be increased to full strength. It’s red “T-O”, which originally stood for “Texas Oklahoma” now symbolizes “Texas’ Own”. 100 Fish Have ‘Opportunity’ Aid One hundred top high school graduates, needing a financial boost to attend college, will enroll at A&M in September as winners of four-year Opportunity Award scholarships. Added to previous winners they will swell to 385 the total number of students who will attend the college next year on these awards. The Opportunity Award plan combines a scholarship of $250 to $300 a year with part-time em ployment, so that those assisted can make most or all of their own way through college. It is fi nanced by former students of the college, A&M clubs and other indi viduals, corporations and founda^ tions. Experiment Post Publishes Bulletin The procedure for utilizing a basic equation to obtain the ap propriate length and configuration of the buried coil in a heat pump installation employing the earth as a heat source and sink in de scribed in a new publication of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station. The publication is Bulletin No. 139 “The Design of a Heat Pump Buried Coil” by Donald M. Vestal Jr., and Billie J. Fluker.
