It’s “Chino Stripes”—a “new look” for the cloth developed under the spon sorship of the U.S. Army Quarter master Corps in the early ’30’s. Combining with Waldrop’s to introduce the new Chino Stripes in Southwestern college markets are the fabric house of Galey & Lord, New York City, and the Pool Manufacturing Co. of Sher man, Tex. Waldrop’s was selected for a college market outlet as a sort of “test” project for these new slacks. The Battalion is one of only five Southwest newspapers being used for an advertising schedule in the “premiere” of this garment.
