Gone are center Lloyd Hale and guards Dee Powell and Dennis Goehring from a middle that was virtually impenetrable for A&M grid foes. Also missing from the Aggie drills will be graduates Bob by Lockett, and Bob Clendennon, tackles; ends Gene Stallings and Bobby Drake Keith; halfback Don Watson and fullbacks Jack Pardee and George Gillar. Hale, Goehring and Pardee were unanimous all-conference choices while Pardee and Goehr ing were named to All-American teams. Back to defend their crown in 1957 will be 19 lettermen, including three-fourths of the backfield and all-American tackle Charlie Krueger. Returning to Bryant’s backfield are quarterbacks Roddy Osborne, all-SWC, Bobby Jo Conrad and Jimmy Wright; halfbacks John Crow, unanimous all-conference Loyd Taylor and Carlos Esquivel; jtnd fullback Richard Gay. Returnees in the line include center John Gilbert; guards Murry Trimble, Jim Langston, Harold Price and Tommy How ard; tackles Jim Stanley, A. L. Simmons and Kenneth Beck; and ends John Tracey, Bobby Marks and Don Smith. DAVE CORSON—6-6 forward from New Orleans and the other half of A&M’s two-man Fish basketball team. College Station State Bank Bryan Building and Loan Ass’n an All Stars Defeat College By FRED McDONALD The Bryan All Stars de feated the College Station All Stars in a bowling match at the Memorial Student Center Alleys last night by 179 pins. The Bryan team out-rolled the Col lege Station team 758-579. This match was arranged by the Brazos County March of Dimes Committee. John Geiger, local al ley manager, handled the arrange ments. Mike Mjistovich handled the narration of the event and did a terrific job. Don Watson, John Crow, Harry Dishman, E. E. Holt, Jack Spring er and Col. Gunn bowled for the Bryan All-Stars. Ran Boswell, Col. Joe Davis, John Redden, Spen cer Buchanan, Jerry Claiborne and Jack Lunsford were the members of the College Station All-Stars. The bowlers had to knock down a “Polio Pin,” which was red in color, or pay a fine of 10 cents for each miss. They were very happy to have Mistovich make the announcement that the First National Bank of Bryan and the College Station State Bank of College Station would pick up the tab for their misses as part of their contribution to the March of Dimes drive. In the regularly scheduled All- Star League, Conways, Bryan Air Force Jets and Park Cleaners con tinued their fight for first place, with all teams winning four points each. The Park Cleaners were par- tiularly hot with John Geiger roll ing high game of 233 and high se ries of 609. The Bryan Air Force Jets knocked down a total of 2641 to take high team series.
