A&M Garden Club Meeting Follows Christmas Theme “The Merry Christmas Look” greeted members of the A&M Garden Club when they met Tues day afternoon in the assembly room of the Memorial Student Center. Mrs. T. W. Leland gave the invocation, and Mrs. Edward Madeley presided at the short business meeting. Named to the nominating committee were the Mesdames George Potter, E. L. Angell and Barlow Irvin. With a background of Christmas music, Mrs. Tom Taylor introduced the pi'esident, Mrs. Madeley, and a past president, Mrs. A. B. Nelson, as speakers for the afternoon. Both are National Flower Show Judges and skilled in the design and creation of unusual and artistic arrangements. A Yule log which has served Mrs. Nelson’s family during many Christmas seasons was gilded and fitted with white tapers which rose from a base of gilded foliage and burrs and a low massing of tallow berries, a fitting arrange ment for any coffee or dinner table. Madonnas were used in two ar rangements, while a more modem note was emphasized in an arrange ment featuring the gilded bamboo of a garden rake, topped with a star, and adorned with bunches of red cherries and bright red crab- apples. The speakers presented suggest ed buffet and mantle arrangements as well as four festive party tables. During the coffee hour Mrs. Nelson presided at the silver ser vice, and the Mesdames Robert Darwall, W. M. Potts, and W. W. Armistead served as hostesses.
