Central Standard Time, each day, for the purpose of voting for or against the levy ing of a student fee of Two Dollars ($2.00) per student for each semester of the long session and One Dollar ($1.00) per student for each term of the summer session for the sole purpose of operating, maintaining, and improving the Memorial Student Cen ter at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Notice of this election shall be published In the student newspaper, “The Battalion,” for three consecutive days during the week of September 19, 1955, in substantially the same form as this resolution of the Board of Directors. The President of the College was authorized to select the exact dates of the election and publication of notice. Receiving members were the club’s president, Mrs. J. J. Wool- ket; Mrs. M. T. Harrington, Mrs. John C. Calhoun, wife of the new Dean of Engineering; Mrs. Rob ert Kamm, wife of the new Dean of Student Personnel and Mrs. C. W. Jefferies, president of the New comers’ Club. Mrs. Woolket introduced other officers of the club: Mesdames Fred Brison, vice-president; A. K. Sparks, secretary; G. D. Hallmark, treasurer; Chris Groneman, gen eral chairman; A. C. Magee, par liamentarian; and W. L. Russell, reporter. She also recognized the honorary president, Mrs. David Morgan and past honorary presidents: Mrs. Harrington, Mrs. Gibb Gilchrist, Mrs. F. C. Bolton and Mrs. T. O. Walton. The Social Club sponsors several “interest groups” and chairmen were introduced as follows: Mrs. C. A. Greer, art group; Mrs. Leslie Hawkins, neighborhood book group; Mrs. W. M. Potts, foods group; Mrs. Charles Richardson, golf group; Mrs. J. G. Gay, handicraft group; Mrs. Charles Jefferies, Newcomer’s Club; and Mrs. P. W. Burns, in the Chairmans absence, swimming group; (Mrs. George Draper is chairman of the swim ming group.) Mrs. C. E. Gray and Mrs. A. B. Medlen played, as a piano duet, se lections from Fluck, Debussy, Ras- bach, Milhaud, Lecuone, and Brag- giotti. Social Whirl The Petroleum Engineering Wives Club will meet Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. in the Petroleum En gineering building. Any wife of a student majoring in Petroleum En gineering is eligible to attend the meeting. ★ For the first time this year, the Agriculture Education wives will meet tonight. Meeting place is in the Birch Room of the Student Center at 7:30 p.m. Officers will be elected. ★ The Mechanical Engineering Wives met Saturday night to dis cuss plans for a weiner roast. ★ A tea will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the south solarium of the YMCA for the Architecture Wives. Included in the club are the Landscape Wives who are eligible to attend along with the faculty wives of these departments. Greer and Miss Mettie Rog ers. The next meeting will be held Oct. 28 at 2:30, in the MSC. Ladies of the Business Administration De partment will be hostesses. A&M Debate Club To Meet Thursday The A&M Debate Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 323 of the Academic Building to discuss plans and begin work for the coming year. John C. Wilson, president, said that “anyone who is interested in debate is urged to attend.” He also remarked that, so far, the club is made up of students living in the Corps and that he wished civilian students would join the club. Other officers of the club are Dave Bowers, vice-president; Ray Finch, secretary-treasurer; and Bill Heard, reporter. SERVICE—The MSC offers students a complete line of household items such as toothpaste, window cleanser, razor blades and toilet articles. Besides this, the store offers greeting cards, reading material, cigarettes, candy, glass ware and other various items, at a nominal cost. Cars Increase There has been an increase of about 300 cars on the campus over the total of last year, according to the Campus Security office. The number of student cars registered since July 21 is 1,248 as of yester day afternoon. NEED GLASSES?
