Watkins (R- Utah), the exasperated retort: “I wonder sometimes if I’m on trial.” Watkins, 67, declared McCarthy, recommended for cen sure on two counts by the Wat kins committee, always manages to turn his own trials into trials of somebody else. ★ ★ ★ DENVER—The CIO Oil Workers International union withdrew yes terday a pledge it made June 4 not to strike for a general wage in crease. 'h McKINNEY—Rep. Sam Ray burn of Bonham, who becomes speaker of the House again in January, took a dig at what he called the Eisenhower adminis tration’s “penny pinching” on national defense yesterday. ★ ★ ★ PARIS — The French Socialists voted overwhelmingly yesterday to ratify the London and Paris ac cords on German rearmament. But they refused to serve in Premier Pierre Mendes-France’s coalition Cabinet except on their own terms. ★ ★ ★ WASHINGTON—The 500 mil lion dollar Dixon-Yates power contract, center of a boiling poli tical row, was signed yesterday with a last minute change to hold down profits- Butscliek All ends Agronomy Meeting Robert Butschek, junior agron omy major from Moulton, left Sat urday, for St. Paul, Minn., where he will attend the week-long meet ing of the American Society of Agronomy, representing the A&M Agronomy society. Butschek will attend all meet ings of the student section of the convention and some of the adult meetings. A&M Grad Gets Fourth Army Post Lt. Col. Milton H. Baughm, ’30, and for nine years the principal of the Hearne high school, has been appointed executive officer of the military personnel procure ment section of the Fourth army. He recently returned to the Uni ted States from Yokohama, Jap an, where he served with the Jap an procurement agency and with the troop control division. Be tween June, 1951, and Aug., 1952, he was assistant operations offi cer for the Eighth army in Ko rea, participating ill three tiam* paigns. Baughm received hl« bachelor of science degree from A&M in 1930 and his master of science from A&M in 1932.
