A squad of 61 freshmen was due to leave by bus this afternoon with assistant coach Jerry Clai borne. The rest of the coaching staff will join the team in Waco after the varsity practice. Yesterday the varsity first string scrimmaged about 30 min utes on offense, and Bryant said it continued to show improvement. All players will be ready for action Saturday, said Bryant. “The only thing hurt against Houston was $mr feelings,” he commented. .Three Outfits Sweep ’Mural Tennis Matches Three of four upperclass men outfits swept tennis doubles matches yesterday to highlight the day’s intramur al activities. Upperclassmen sports also included basketball and swimming, while freshmen sports included football, horseshoes and swimming. In tennis, D. Inf. won over Sqdn. 13, 3-0; A Chem. took Sqdn. 6, 3-0; A Inf. beat, A Ath., 3-0 and A Sig. nal won over Sqdn. 1, 2-1. In basketball, Milner won over Law, 25-17; A Ordi won over* Sqdn. * 2, 23-14; Sqdn. 9 nudged Sqdn. 23, 20-16; and Sqdn. 1-6 beat Sqdn. 4, 26-13. In football, Sqdn. 20 won over Sqdn. 18, 12-0; Sqdn. 13 edged A TC, 2-0; and Sqdn. 9 and “B” Ar mor tied 12-12. In intramural horseshoes, Sqdn. 7 won over A Inf., 2-1; Sqdn. 3 geat “A” Chem. 3-0; and Sqdn. 5 won. over Sqdn. 8, 2-1. Brookdale—No. 1 Tall Can The scrimmage session was pre ceded by a defensive drill on TCU plays directed by Don Ellis, who played the part of Ronald Clink- scale, Frog quarterback. Bryant announced this probable starting lineup for the Fish: Ends, Dean Meeks, 185, and Bobby Marks, 185; tackles, Joe Rokyta, 192, and Charles Krueger, 210, or Jackie Davis, 198; guards, Paul Lillard, 198, and Norman Noble, 199; center, John Gilbert, 190, or Gerald Her, 203; Quarterback, Jimmy Wright, 175; halfbacks, John Ci-ow, 200, and Ed Dudley, 185; fullback, Ken Hall, 195. Jim Stanley, 190-pound tackle who started the TCU and Houston games, is out with a broken fin ger. End Roger Hobson may not play because of injuries. Gilbert will start jit center if the Fish receive, Her will start if A&M kicks. Four of the players listed as probable starters are from outside Texas. They are Marks, who is from New Orleans, Davis (Hugo, Okla.), Gilbert (Russellville, Ark.) and Crow (Spring Hill, La.). Stanley was an all-stater at Lynch, Ky. Latest word from Waco says that about 12,000 fans are expect ed for the 8 p.m. kickoff at Muni cipal stadium. The Cubs pushed the Texas freshmen all over the field in a 19-7 victory last Friday, rolling up 22 first downs and 297 yards rushing. Some top men for the Cubs are V.A. Patients To Be Ag Guests , More than 40 patients at the Veterans Administration center at Temple will be guests of A&M and the Athletic department at the football game Saturday afternoon between the Aggies and TCU. The patients, accompanied by nurses, will arrive shortly before noon Saturday and have lunch. They will be met by P. L. Downs jr., official greeter for the college, who will be in charge of local ar rangements. fullback Bobby Peters, an all stater at Van and one of the most highly-sought gridders in the state; Tackles Fred Britton, 220, and Bobby Jack Oliver, 230-pound all stater from Abilene; halfback Joey Allen, who scored on a 79-yard run against the Shorthorns; and ends Jerry Marcontel of Cedar Bayou and Don McLaughlin of Odessa. The Cubs also have a halfback named Crow — 180-pound Robert Crow. In their two games, the Fish have gained 476 yards on the ground and just 26 yards passing.- Crow has 136 yards in 17 carries, Dudley has 127 in 25 and Hall has 74 in 8. This gives the trio an aggregate total of 337 yards in 50 tries, a 6.8 yard average. A&M Rifle Team Meets TCU Here The Aggie rifle team, winner over University of Houston by 33 points last Saturday in the season opener, meets TCU at 9 a.m. Sat urday at the Aggie rifle range. C. E. Bomardier, Sidney Ferrell, Dan Grissom, Fred Gailey and D. D. Phillips fired for the Cadets in Houston. Bomardier was high man, with Phillips second.
