Leissner Benched Injury Sidelines Baseball Captain By ERIC MILLER Battalion Staff Writer Charles Leissner, physical edu cation major from Austin, is the present captain of the Aggie base ball team. Misfortune struck Chuck, as most of his friends call him, early this season during a practice ses sion while attempting to start a double play. A wrong step in the wrong direction dislocated a disc in his back which has caused him much pain. It will be a while before he can get back in shape but he hopes to be back in the lineup before the season ends. One of his most surprising moments came last year at the an nual spring sports banquet when Chuck was awarded the Ted Mohle award for contributing the most to the team. While attending Austin high, Chuck lettered three years at short stop and had a batting avarage of .349 his senior year. After com ing to A&M, he switched to second base and was occupying this posi tion when the accident occured. Chuck was a member of the Austin American Legion team from which he was selected to serve on the all state team. This Legion teapi won the state finals and at tended the Little World Series at Charleston, S. C. where they finish ed sixth in the nation. Chuck receives his degree in physical education May 21 along with a commission in the air force. FISH HITTING K ab r b Ibrbi ave.
