(Staff Photo by Holder.) Skies Prevent Inter-Service Practice Rain and cold weather prevent ed the Army and Air Force teams from holding- their first scheduled workout yesterday afternoon. The two teams, one repx-esenting the Army and the other the Air Force, are to play a game Dec. 18 on Kyle Field to decide the Corps championship. According to head coaches, Ray (graves for the Air Force and Jack Little for the Army, there will be no formal workouts until Monday afternoon. Connie Magouirk, of fensive backfield coach for the Army said he would try to be around the practice field to help anyone wishing to begin workouts this weekend. Coaches Graves and Little have agreed to use a set defense and to employ the same offense. Both teams will run from the straight T. The defense will be a 6-2-2-1. Both coaches strongly urged their players to begin playing bas ketball or some other indoor sport over the weekend to get in shape. This will be a big help if the rain continues to prevent workouts, Lit tle said. First Basketball Game Fish, Varsity Clash Tonight The annual game between the freshman and varsity basketball squads will be played at 8 p. m. tonight in the field house. Larry Hayes will tutor the freshmen. Since Nov. 10, both teams have been working out in preparation for this game and the start of the season. Coach Hayes, when asked about the chances of the Fish team said, “We don’t expect to push the var sity off the court, but we will be playing to win. People will know they’ve seen a basketball game.” No Height Hurls Hayes said he was hampered by lack of height but he should have a pretty good team. He expects to at least hold his own with most other freshman teams on the sche dule. John Floyd was not available for comment at press time. , Varsity prospects for this year are Leroy Miksch, senior from Waelder; Don Binford, junior of Wellington, Kan.; Don Heft of Corpus Christi, senior; and Bill Williams of College Station, a ju nior. Best sophomore bets are Roy Martin, 6-8 center from Waxaha- chie; Don Moon, 5-8% guard of Minden; Joe Hardgrove, 6-2 guard from Fort Worth and Pat Mc- Grory, 5-10 guard from Waelder.
