mum B AS,&QBg I was reading along the other day as is my habit in throwing away and wasting time instead of doing some thing useful and productive and found a passage that struck me as a little out of tune. But after a mo ments consideration I knew the man who had not made a mistake at all He is G. B. S. and the particular passage said “That money is not the secret of command,” and of course it isn’t. Why it’s personality. Per sonality is what this country has a lot of. Now if you want to get a job as a teacher, you need Personality (large P.), or if you sell insurance; or just anything. America wants lots of personality and undoubtedly has more uncalled for back-slapping nit-wits working their personality off bn the public, (who by the way likes to be slapped on the back and called by it’s first name) than any other country in the world. But as Shaw says, money isn’t accessary to command. It doesn’t alk as much as one would first ink. So cultivate Personality, and et in the Rotary Club, and be one f the Boys and a good fello, and be firm smug citizen with a person- lity latch to your pocketbook. Now don’t get the idea that I am landering out Great and Progres- ive citizentry. I couldn’t do it, real- I am such a mediocre artist at hat, and besides I believe in per- onality. Its a great thing. Commer cial Personality brings in the suck ers, or they wouldn’t be suckers. And ‘money does not command’ is again evident in the Army. Now the officers for example, are super charged with personailty. Of course they arn’t quite in the same boat with the rest of the world because they have their own circle and don’t have to pound every other commer cial blood-hound on the shoulder blade as on the outside world. Still I contend that they have Personality. So think it over. And I am reminded of the pathe tic tale of Willie the Kid at this time. Let me tell it to you. Willie the Kid Willie was a tough son-of-a-gun IS BARBER SHOP IN THE Y The Aggie’s Friend mmmi simiottou PROPRI ETOR Delicious and Refreshing Mwe Am youilf^STElF OF COURSE IT’S N O FAIR PLAYING THE PROCTOR AND SPYING OUT SUCH A DELICATE SITUATION AS THIS. BUT THEN, WE’RE NO PROCTOR. AND WE CAN RESIST ANYTHING BUT TEMPTATION. .. All of which goes to prove (if we may be excused for saying so) that the pause that refreshes is the sanest temptation which millions ever succumbed to. And to these same millions the pause that re freshes has come to mean an ice- cold Coca-Cola. Its tingling, delicious taste and cool after-sense of refreshment have proved that a little minute is long enough for a big rest any time. The Coca-Cola Co.. Atlanta, Ga. So the old man, seeing that Willie wasn’t good for a thing around the place and only a liability to keep up decided to send him to A. & M. Well you know Willie. He got off the train at Navasota put on his snow-shoes and tramped over to get learning. He was plenty tough, was Willie. He was an arrogant cuss for a long time, but gradually time told. Four years later, after busting Fish Chem and Ag. 101 for the fourth time he gave it up. The secret of his success as he gave it on his deathbed a few days ago was this. He said at first he tried to bear up just for his step-mother but his herculian strenght finally broke. The food ruined his iron stomach and the bed broke his back. And later he caught pnuemonia in an icy shower. So environment done it and he died dead.
