Unleashing a powerful runij'ng and plunging attack the Texas Aggies realed off gain after gain through the highly touted Southwestern Pirates on Kyle Field last Saturday afternoon for a decisive 31-0 victory. It was only the fine defensive work of An drews and Blackburn that kept the score down to what it was. The game was played just after a terrific downpour of rain and the field was too wet and slippery for very much spectacular work. After a few minutes play the players of both teams were so muddy that it was dif ficult to distinguish them from each other. The Aggie touchdowns were largely the result of sensational dashes and slides through the mud by Hunt, Var- nell, Mills, Conover and Davis. Var- nell gained the most ground for the Aggies, turning in several nice gains through the line. Features of the game were the 35 yard) run through the mud for a touchdown by Joel Hunt on the initial play of the game and the 53 yard run of Varnell in which he simply outran his persuers. Both coaches used practically their entire squads during the afternoon. Andrews and Blackburn turned in beautiful defensive games for the Pirates', with the whole Aggie line proving too strong for the Southwest ern attack. The Farmers rolled up a total of eleven first downs with Southwestern making only one. Scoring: A. and M. touchdowns: Hunt 2, Varnell 2, Willis 1. Points after touchdown, Hunt 1.
