Now I want to see if they can walk the talk.” Continued from Page 1 “I feel very strongly that if you are part of an organization, you won’t go behind it and stab it in the back,” Reyes said. Many students, though, said the student body is moving in the right direction by supporting Yell Leaders on an individual basis and not because of the or ganizations they represent. Drew Bird, a freshman bio medical science major, said he is glad Yell Leaders were selected because of their school spirit and dedication. “It is a great thing to see people voting for the person and not the group,” Bird said. Sixty-two percent of the student body voted for a referendum re quiring a run-off for future Yell Leader elections. Run-offs will be among the top four junior candi dates and the top five senior candi dates in an attempt to ensure elected Yell Leaders are supported by a majority of students. Some students are worried the referendum will dilute the effect of the Corps Bloc. Gregg Nichols, a freshman agribusiness major, said that al though the run-off will not help the Corps, it will increase fairness. “It is bad for the Corps because it is a minority,” Nichols said. “But in general, it will let the best man win.” Jeff Prince, a senior finance ma jor, said the student body proved in this election that the Corps Bloc is not all-powerful. “I think justice prevailed tonight in the Yell Leader elec- Gwendolyn Struve, Tim Battalion limbo Cross, newly elected se nior Yell Leader, is congratulated after election results were read. tions,” Prince said. “Aggies voted with their hearts. It just goes to show the Corps Bloc doesn’t work.” MSC L.T.
