Checker boards are built into the tops of tables scattered around the room to entertain players waiting for a shot. People waiting to play pool can also play a game of Blackjack with a dealer. “They can’t win prizes or money,” Ar- ranaga said, “but it gives them some thing to do while they wait.” Sidepockets hosts three pool tourna ments a year. Plans are in the works for a tournament to take place in mid-Octo ber to benefit the Cancer Society. There are also plans to build a large waiting room with televisions and seating areas.
