Heading the Aggie delegation will be iron man John Collins, Dan ny Roberts and Ted Nelson in the varsity division. Randy Matson, James White and Buddy Woodall will lead a strong Fish team. Thomas said Wednesday that the Aggie varsity is improving steadi ly as the season progresses, but the Cadets will be missing sprint ers Pat Mitchell and Robert Mar tin who were injured in the A&M- Rice-LSU meet two weeks ago. Mitchell has a sore leg and Martin a bad knee. Slated to compete for the Maroon in the varsity field events are Rob erts, shot put and discus; David Glover, discus; Collins, high jump and broad jump; Bobby Brown, broad jump; and Dan Meadows, javelin. Collins will also run the high hurdles and Nelson will enter the open 440-yard dash. A&M’s entry in the three-mile run is Ilhan Bilgutay. In the relays, the Aggies will feature Jim Tarr, James Runge, Richard Hall and Nelson in the 440-yard delay. The 880-yard re lay will consist of the same four men. The mile-relay will be Collins, Runge, Gene Westmoreland and Nelson. Aggie Fish entries in the Austin meet are Matson in the shot put, Mike Schrider and Stephen Holtz in the high jump. Earl Edwards will be in the pole vault and White, Buster Mason and Don Price in the 100-yard dash. The freshman 440 - yard relay team is Price, Mason, Woodall and White. The sprint medley relay unit is comprised of Mason, White, Woodall and McCough. The Fish mile relay team will be Darrell Wilk, Arie Britt, Woodall and Mc- Gough or White. Pool Opens For Spring The opening of the Aggie swim ming pool is scheduled for Mon day. During the weekdays the pool hours Will be from 2 to 5:80 p.m. On Saturdays the hours will be from 10 to 12 and from 1:30 to 5:30. All students who present an I.D. card will have to pay 25 cents to swim. Season tickets for faculty members are on sale for $10. Sessions start on April 16 and run through July 12. ANOTHER COURT MAGICIAN AT A&M? Jimmy Dale fakes out Bauerschlag, left, and Metcalf. Another Lenox Joins Ag Clan The Aggies have added another Lenox to their championship family Wednesday when Coach Shelby Metcalf signed Clear Creek sharp shooter Jimmy Dale Lenox to an A&M athletic scholarship. The first of the Lenox boys, Bennie, finished his varsity career at A&M this Reason with seven school records to his credit. An other, Curley, will be an Aggie sophomore next season. Jimmy Dale, nephew of Bennie and Curley, was named Texas High School Basketball Player of the Year by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce and the Beaumont A&M Club. The 6-2, 180 pound Lenox was an all-stater in Class 3A and was all state-tournament his junior and senior years. In playoff games Jimmy Dale tallied 27 points this year in bi-district, 26 in regional, 30 in the state semi-finals and 21 in the state finals. Clear Creek lost to Graham, 60-50, in the state finals. Boston, formerly of Tennessee A&I, jumped 27-1% in 1961 to set a world’s record, a mark later broken by Russia’s Igor Tero- vanesyan. Boston also holds the Olympic record of 26-7 V2 set at the 1960 games in Rome. Miller, who has won the relays broad jump three times, leaped 26-4% last summer for his best effort and finished second in the NCAA.
