Hugo Roitsch, pastor of the Kurten Lutheran church, was a vis itor on the campus last week, look ing after the interests of the Luth eran students here in making arrange ments to hold services on the cam pus. Rev. Roitsch will serve the pas torate at Kurten regularly and in tends to serve the students here at the same time by holding service on the second and fourth Sunday eve nings. Since with this double obliga tion he would be unable to do full justice to the work among the stu dents, Rev. Roitsch intends to start a Mission in Bryan and eventually let it handle the college work. But for the time being the services will be held on the campus and will be announced through the Daily Bulletin. Students will be interested to learn that Rev. Roitsch is a former student of the institution, having tajcen a course in Agriculture here in 1912. THE BATTALION takes this oppor tunity to extend a hearty welcome to Rev. Roitsch and wishes him suc cess in his work. JERSEY COW JOINS SELECT CLASS Stockwell’s Lady Gamboge 520846, a senior three-year-old Jersey cow, owned by the Texas A. and M. He bought a ticket to Houston and then walked down there to spite the railroad com pany. You know that son-of-a-gun hasn’t given them that ticket back ’till yet!” The general level of prices paid to "armers for their produce was 34 per cent above the pre-war level on Sep tember 15, and 1 per cent higher than August 15. The department of agriculture in its monthly report Wednesday said that during the month farm prices for practically all crops were lowered but they offset higher prices for meat, animals, dairy and poultry products. A year ago the general price level was 44 per cent above the pre-war period. “With our high speed competition we must have clear, sober heads to get there. We must either support prohibition or go back to bugggies. A ch'unken man can’t twist the reins about the dashboard of an automobile and expect to get home as he did with old Dobbin.” This was the statement of Badger Clark, cowboy poet of the old West, to the students at Colorado Agricultural College at Fort Collins, recently. He: Sir, your daughter has prom ised to be my wife. Her Dad: Well, don’t come to me for sympathy. I knew something would happen if you hung around here five nights a week.—Exchange.
