Texas A&M will put up various items for sale — including 20 buses used by its transportation services department to move students around campus — on eBay starting today, hoping to take advantage of the international power and atten tion of the internet, says Rex Janne, director of purchasing services. Janne is hoping that by placing items on eBay, the interest will grow by the thousands or even more. "The Internet is a good tool to use for selling items no lon ger needed by the university or a school district, and we want to ex plore it more," Janne said. “We’ve had some success in re cent months with some specialty items, but we want to see what the interest level is for larger ticket items, such as the shuttle b, and other vehicles and equipi Janne said the Texas letic department contacted office last spring to see if it sell some sports jerseys and & used by the women's softbal soccer teams. The items were placed om and quickly sold out, he said. "The response we gotwase lent,” he said. "We thought there would: good response for sports meiri bilia items, but now we wantto if we can get the same respo for other items, such as lab eg ment. furniture and vehicles." While most items are b found in typical office and bus: supply stores, some are not.
