The Texas A&M women’s
tennis team will host Kansas
State University at 12 p.m.
Saturday at the George P.
Mitchell Tennis Center. Yet, it’s
the game three days later against
No. 12 University of Texas that
is looming large.
“(A&M head coach Bobby
Kleineeke) has always told us to
take it one game at a time,” said
freshman Anna Lubinsky.
“Anything can happen. Look at the
LSU match when we went there
expecting to win mid it turned out
to be a disaster. So, we just have to
focus on our next opponent and
move on from there.”
The Aggies (16-6. 8-0 in Big
12) face a Kansas State team that
is struggling and has been for
some time. The Wildcats (5-12,
1-8 in Big 12) were ranked as
high as No. 33 at the beginning of
the season but have fallen drasti
cally since. They encountered a
six-match losing streak at the
beginning of conference play, and
have yet to put together a signifi
cant string of wins this season.
On the other hand. A&M has
been coasting through confer
ence play. The Aggies have
dominated their opponents, win
ning their conference matches
hy a combined score of 50-5.
They hold an undefeated record
at home this season and will be
gunning for their best confer
ence start ever on Saturday.
The Wildcats are not expect
ed to change that trend, but the
match against the Longhorns on
Tuesday might challenge it.

“We've been hitting the
ball well” Mavroulis said.
“Hopefully we can keep it up
going into OU.”
Johnson said that despite
losing six conference games,
the Aggies have built
momentum by not being
swept or receiving multiple
losses in a row.
“We’ve had some pretty
good momentum all the way,"
Johnson said. “We haven’t
lost four or five in a row.”

Lubinsky claims that the key
to the team’s success lately has
been preparation.
“We’re confident in our

comes from preparation. The
work in practice, in the weight

THE BATTALION
After a weather-shortened
Texas A&M Invitational, the
Aggie track and field team is
headed to the Ml. SAC Relays in
Walnut, Calif., this weekend.
The relays have been an
annual event for
more than 60
years and are one
of the largest
meets of the sea
son. More than
100 schools from
across the nation
will compete.
The Aggies
usually send only
their decathletes
and throwers to
this four-day
event, but this
year they will be
sending their
entire squad.

that we can run below 40 seconds
in the 4x100 relay. As long as we
run a good meet and have good
weather I will be pleased.”
