The Bryan Police Department

to shoot him in self-defense.
Bryan police surrounded ttif

“KDNE will be a hot hits sta
tion,” said Ben Downs, general
manager of Bryan Broadcasting.
“If you turn your radio to 95.1
right now you will hear a sample
of what we will be airing. The
sound has not been perfected yet,
but it will be soon.”
The only station currently
providing a mix of music in the
B-CS area is Mix 104.7, which
plays adult contemporary.
However, KNDE will be the
only locally broadcast mix sta
tion, which may appeal more to
some listeners, Downs said.
According to Saturday’s
Bryan-College Station Eagle, Jan
Stott, vice president market man
ager for Mix and two other local
Clear Channel stations, said she
welcomes the competition.
Students who frequently listen
to the radio said a new station
will add another option to choose
from.
“I’m really excited about the
change, it will be nice to have
more than one mix station to lis
ten to from now on,” said Ashley
Ellis, a senior journalism major.
KTSR is explaining the tran
sition to the new station to lis
teners and asking for ideas on
what songs to play for its last
day on air, Downs said.
Downs said the transition was
announced to the staff several
months ago and no one was tired
from KTSR. But two on-air per
sonalities, Roger Garrett and Eli
Fox, decided to leave after the
transition.
