A Bryan man was fatally sliol by a police officer Saturda) morning after receiving a phone call from a psychologist reported that the man threatened suicide. The four-hour ordeal l when police responded to a sui cide call, only to find Danie Edward Knudson locked i his house refusing to come out The Bryan Police Department news release stated Knudson's psychologist reported Knudson had taken several pi and threatened to take his owi life by provoking a police office to shoot him in self-defense. Bryan police surrounded ttif home trying to contact Knudsor and offer him medical andpsy chological treatment. During that time, the police held numerous telephone converse tions with Knudson. At 2:17 a.m. Knudson rushed out the door, bearing looked like a "long gun" and pointed it at an officer threatening manner, later inves tigators discovered the weapon in question was an air rifle. After refusing to respond the officers' verbal commands, police fired three shots and said one struck Knudson in the chest. The officer involved in the shooting has been placed paid administrative leave pend ing further investigation.
