If a book was bought used, the buy back price is half of the used price. Stocks stressed that most bookstores do not set their book prices. New book prices The students at Texas A&M have it better at buy-back time than at other universities because there are so many stores here. Everybody has to play on the same playing field. — Philip Beard manager of University Bookstore are set by the publishers, and used book prices are set by the wholesale company. Sophomore general studies major Reanna Crozier said she prefers to sell to classmates instead of to the bookstores. “If you know' your book's going to be used next semester, sell it to a friend who is going to take that class. It’s a w in-win situation.” Corzier said. “You get more money, and your friend spends less.” There are eleven bookstores operated by five companies in the Bryan-College Station area. "The students at Texas A&M have it better at buy-back time than students at other uni versities because there are so many stores here,” Beard said. "Every body has to play on the same playing field.” Scott Eggers. manager of the Northgate Rothers said accounting and science students often get stuck buying new books because new technology and modem theories make new edi tions necessary. Booksellers agree that packaging books with CDs or study guides is complicated. Stocks said different prices are sometimes offered for different elements of a package, or the whole package is needed to sell it back. He said the CDs typically need to be intact in the back of the book to be sate] back. Internet booksellers have not affected busi ness in the area. Stocks said. "With our stands all over campus, it is just too convenient,” he added. Ire the Aggie i l.isse’s all over QBI Stiavs ser said. "Thisaddii" help in that situation."
