LMU holds off Agg
By Doug Fuentes
THE BATTALION
Even as the clock hit 0:00 at
Reed Arena Sunday at the Texas
A&M men’s basketball game,
the Aggies still had a chance to
beat Loyola Marymount and get
off to their best start since the
1980-81 season.
A&M junior guard Bernard
King was fouled by Loyola
Marymount’s Marcus Smith
while attempting a 3-pointer
with three-tenths of a second left
in the game, giving King a
chance to shoot three free
throws and tie the game, which
stood at 80-77.
King made the first free
throw but his next two bounced
harmlessly off the rim as the
Lions held off the Aggies, 80-
78, handing A&M its first loss
of the season.
"I thought Marcus fouled
him,” said Loyola Marymount
coach Steve Aggers. “We talked
about not fouling them if they
inbounded the ball behind the
three-point line.”
STUART VILLANUEVA • THE BATTALION
