“They are Aggies also,” she said.
“They have yell leaders and yell
practice on Thursday nights. Their
students always come down to Col
lege Station and participate in sev
eral of the traditions here too.”
Blaney said this event created a
strong relationship between the
two student government associa
tions.
“This event really strengthened
our relationship with A&M-Galve-
ston’s SGA and it also brought our
own student body leaders closer,”
she said. “We got to spend more
time with each other and also got
to know each other better. We also
wanted to have a closer relation
ship with A&M-Galveston’s SGA.”
Rob Ferguson, a junior political
science major and off campus sen
ator of Texas A&M, said a lot of
positive ideas were exchanged this
past weekend.
“The event was very successful
and 1 hope we continue to do this
in the future because we could ben
efit so much from each other,” he
said. “We are so close in tradition
that I hope other groups on our
campus will take part in this ex
change program and see what they
have to offer. ”
Ferguson said they discussed
building a freshman leadership or
ganization at A&M-Galveston to
improve student involvement.
“Getting freshmen involved is
the key to improving student par
ticipation,” he said. “I really hope
students take the opportunity to
find out what A&M-Galveston has
to offer and is all about.”

But he cautioned against using the

get as many people to sign up as
possible,” Seyle said. “The appli
cation is easy to fill out. Great dis
cussion topics, and of course, free
food will be provided at the pro
fessors home. All we are asking
for from the students is a commit
ment to make the group meet
ings.”
Seyle said through the pro
gram, participants can talk about
world issues openly.
We want this program to be a
part of the college experience,”
Seyle said. “It is a great opportu
nity for students and professors to
break down the formalities and
discuss important issues as
equals.”
Mindy Roll, director of public
relations for the MSC Conversa
tions and a freshman general stud
ies major, said MSC Conversations
is a way for students to commit to
two group discussions to engage
their intellect.
“Texas A&M is known for its
outstanding camaraderie, tradi
tions and brotherhood, but not as
well known for its intellectual ac
tivity,” Roll said. “In response, we
have begun to foster a climate for
intellectual discussions about cur
rent events and important issues
open to discussion between pro
fessors and students, in a not so
structured setting.”
