Museum of Natural History hosts event for children, ail
BY BRADY CREEL
The Battalion
The Brazos Valley Museum of
Natural History hosted an open
house yesterday with interactive ex
hibits for both children and adults.
Tom Lynch, curator of the Brazos
Valley Museum of Natural History,
said he was very pleased with the
turnout and called the day a success.
“We had people of all ages and
types come out to see the ex
hibits,” he said.
Many families were on band to
take part in the festivities. Children
were present to witness demonstra
tions of a hide-worker, who prepared
an animal hide, and a flint-knapper,
who worked stones into anowheads.
Lynch said the open house at
tracted both long-time supporters
of the museum and new guests.
“We saw some of our old
friends along with some new visi
tors,” he said.
Raina Gilyard, a freshman histo
ry major, said the exhibits paralleled
her freshman Texas history course.
“1 enjoyed being able to see
things that corresponded with what
is going on in my class,” she said.
"Texas Cowboys”, a photo
graphic exhibit sponsored by the
American Quarter Horse Associa
tion, also was on display at the
museum.
The exhibit features pho
