MISCELLANEOUS Salei Visit Cavitt Corner Used Books & Collectibles for gifts, furniture, antiques!! 822-6633. vln g through Bryan and College Station, one observes a cavalcade of eateries. There are the ubiquitous chain restaurants, as well as locally owned culinary establishments. A hungry Aggie can find several places in which to satisfy his or her appetite. However, when the same old restaurants become tired to the taste buds, there are some hidden treasures off the eaten path. Barbrque Texas is known for its great barbeque and driving down South Texas Avenue one might miss an establishment known for some of the best barbeque in Texas. Tucked behind a cluster of trees in a reddish wooden building lies Martin's Place. From chopped beef to pork ribs, Martin's Place has a little of everything for the bar beque connoisseur. Betty Meese, an employee at Martin's, attributes the restaurants success to word of mouth. "People hear about us from their friends and then come try us out. Our restaurant is very popu lar during lunch," Meese said. "Most people come to Martin's for our great barbeque and our famous house potatoes." Meese said the restaurant has been serving customers for over 70 years. "We have been in business since 1925 and people keep com- Circus Continued from Page 3 "This is our first ticketed event, and it's not an easy process," Bowers said, but said she believes everything will run smoothly after all the extensive preparation and planning. The show will run approximately two and a half hours. Bowers said, in addition to the Three Ring Adventure before the show begins. Many students have been anticipating the circus' appearance in College Station since learning of the engagement. ing back for more," Meese said. Mexican Food Down highway 21, a bright pink and turquoise structure might catch your eye. The bright building houses Mi Cocina, a fam ily-run Mexican restaurant in Bryan. Mi Cocina's great prices on homemade Mexican food makes it a favorite among Bryan-College Station residents. Blanca Gonzalez, a waitress at Mi Cocina, said that the location of the restaurant makes it harder for students to dine at Mi Cocina throughout the week. She said that the weekends are quite busy with students, however. "At lunch we have a lot of Bryan and College Station profes sionals and fewer students," Gonzalez said. "However, during the weekend, the place is packed with students. Hamburgers Koppe Bridge off Wellborn road is located in a wooden building with a large front porch on the out side and great hamburgers on the inside. The interior is reminiscent of a country bar, complete with whiskey barrel tables. The ham burgers are thick and juicy and the French fries are home style cut. Eddie Palomarez, an employee at Koppe Bridge, said students hear about the restaurant after being at A&M for a few years. "Students don't come out here as often as local business people and longtime residents," Palomarez said. "We are kind of off the beaten path. "Older students usually hear about our great burgers after they have been at A&M for a while." Brandi Barron, a junior man agement major, said Koppe Bridge has some of the best ham burgers around. "We always go out to Koppe Bridge for hamburgers and to watch football games," Barron said. "They have the best ham burgers in College Station and the restaurant has great atmosphere." Chicken Driving down Texas Avenue across from campus the sign, "Layne's" clearly can be seen. Many students have not discov ered this source of fowl food. The fabulous chicken fingers and French fries are the main menu items. The chicken fingers are paired with Layne's fabulous secret recipe sauce, and many student's visit Layne's on a regular basis. Roger Reyna, an employee at Layne's, said the majority of their business comes from their regular and take out customers. "I think our place runs through word of mouth," Reyna said. "We have regular customers who visit us almost everyday. "Our take out is great for a quick bite to eat." Upscale Dining The Grapevine restaurant located behind the La Quinta Inn is hard to see from the main strip on Texas Avenue in College Station. However, once it's discovered one is sure to find a dining treat. The restaurant serves a wide variety of gourmet fare including pastas, chicken and steaks. "I'm going to be there. I love the circus, and I'm going on Wednesday," Lemons said. "I've seen the Barnum & Bailey show before, and it was good, so I think this will be fun." Lemons said he is looking forward to some attractions in particular. "The baby elephants are adorable, and circus freaks are just cool in general," Lemons said. The arrival of the circus train in town on Monday also was a highly anticipated / event by students and townspeople. After arriving on West Campus early in the day, there was a paiadeojgl mals and circus performers followingaR mile route to Reed Arena.
