In 1959 it all started. I blinked my eyes and here I am today. "This is the one award I always wanted. I have coached at two great universities at WestTexas and Texas A&M. I don't miss coaching, but I miss being around the great coaches and players. It's great to be back around so many of them this week and to be here in Athens." Kent also thanked Dave Snyder of Texas for contributing to his retire ment because of health prob lems in 1996. "I have to thank Dave Snyder who forced me to retire from coaching," Kent said. Kent "His team beat us on a Saturday and I had a heart attack on Monday. And that was the last match I coached." Dan Magill, long-time Georgia tennis coach and hall chairman in ducted Kent with some comple mentary words. "David Kent has one of the very best records in tennis in Texas," Mag- ill said.
