Austin today. Game one is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with freshman Ashley Lewis starting followed by game two. Last weekend, the Aggies split a doubleheader with Iowa State and were swept by No. 12 Nebraska. They were putscored 17-2, and they committed seven errors in their three losses. “We need to be more consistent in the field,” Coach Jo Evans said. “When we make too many errors, we put ourselves in a hole. Defense wins championships. “We need to make the routine plays on a more consistent basis,” Evans added. Evans also said she would like the team to be more consistent and aggressive at the plate. "We haven’t been hitting the hall well,” she said. “We’re not jumping on the first strike. We are just too de fensive at the plate.” “I’m not pleased with our hit ting at all,” she added. “We haven’t hit well at times, and I would like to see more consisten cy and effort at the plate.” Despite some inconsistent play at times, the pitching staff has been performing well. "Kristina (Gandara) has been coming along and has picked up some big wins for us,” Evans said. "Amy (Vining) threw a very good game against Iowa State ; gave up two runs anii ; them were unearned.” Evans also added that|l agains: jl US,” Slit'., wanted ] them earlier in the season, tel 1 coukln’tget theminbecausej tournaments we had schedj After this series, the At, return home this weekend!:* doubleheader against rati! foes Kansas and Missouri.
