Men’s basketball
downed by Tigers
The Texas A&M Men’s Basketball
Team (6-16, 0-12) lost to the
Missouri Tigers (14-11, 6-6) 73-60
Saturday night in Columbia, Mo. The
loss is the Aggies’ 13th straight over
all and 12th straight loss in confer
ence. The Aggies are one loss away
from equaling the A&M record for
consecutive losses of 14, which was
set in 1944 during World War II.
Missouri was led by guard John
Woods’ outside shooting. With only
eight active players, A&M was forced
to play zone defense to conserve
energy. Woods took advantage of the
zone, going 5 of 10 from beyond the
three-point arc and scoring a team
leading 21 points. Also scoring in
double figures for Missouri were Kelly
Thames with 14, Brian Grawer with
11 and Monte Hardge with 10 points
and 13 rebounds.
The Aggies were led by freshman
guard Michael Schmidt. Schmidt had
his best shooting night as an Aggie
going 8 for 11 from the field on his
way to a career- and game-high 24
points. Schmidt was one of only three
Aggies who scored in double figures
as A&M shot only 37 percent from
the field. Junior forward Shanne
Jones scored 14 points and sopho-
