Class of '79 313 B South College Avenue College Station, TX 77840 (409) 846-8916 “Very personal investments” PINION Friday ‘January3 Mail Continued from Page 7 Now how can a positive orga nization that has existed on this campus for over 10 years be deni grated so quickly and carelessly? Maybe the University and College Station Police were not prepared for the influx of 4,000 people un affiliated with the conference Saturday night. Or maybe, because some stu dents exhibit little tolerance for a common event occurring in an unlikely setting. There was no riot, there was an altercation during a party. Further more, neither Channel 3 nor The Battalion reported on the positive events surrounding the confer ence. Maybe The Battalion just wanted to be fair and ignore the conference altogether. Sheri Teinert explained that on Saturday her on-campus driving was impeded by a “march.” I’d bet participants were walking to the conference luncheon at Duncan Dining Hall. I’d also bet that this looked no different than before and after a football game.. Twelve hundred students came to this year’s conference. Violence is bad for the parties as sociated with it, however SBSLC promotes and develops leader ship. I urge students to explore all sides of an issue before jumping to conclusions that could be detrimental to an extremely help ful and motivational program. La trie ia E.
