POST OAK MALL • 696-0546 Aggielife SI Continued from Page 3 Miller said the relaxed environ ment of the SI sessions are conducive to learning. “It’s more like studying with a group of friends,” Miller said. "It is also helpful having a graduate stu dent who has been in our shoes for the past few years — they under stand things on our level.” Sam Mitchell, an SI student and a junior nutritional science major, said the SI leaders are the most important aspect of the program. She said they are always energetic and willing to go the extra mile to help out students. “The SI leaders really care about you and want to ensure that you’re learning,” Mitchell said. “Their goal is to help the students rather than just get through with the session.” Miller said although a larger number of students now are attend ing the SI sessions, other students do not realize the effectiveness of the program. She said many students are involved in other activities that may conflict with the SI sessions. “A lot of people see it, at first, as a waste of time,” Miller said. “If they gave it a chance, they would take ad vantage of it more often.” Forcina said, in addition to holding three weekly help ses sions, SI leaders should also serve as model students by always at tending classes, taking good notes and asking questions in lecture. He said in an ideal SI session, students interact and discuss the material among themselves, in stead of relying just on a lecture. Forcina enjoys being an SI leader because he is able to interact with other students. “It gives me the opportunity to be involved in another part of the Univer sity I wouldn’t otherwise be involved in,” Forcina said. "When the semester is over and one of my students tells me they pulled off an A in the class, it is very rewarding. It makes me feel like 1 am re ally contributing to the University by helping other Aggies out.” Murphy says no to llama lip service ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Eddie Murphy is going to talk to the ani mals, but he won’t sing. Murphy, fresh off his remake of The Nutty Professor, will begin filming a remake of Doctor Dolittle next month. “It’s as far away from Rex Harri son as The Nutty Professor was from Jerry Lewis,” Murphy said in Wednesday’s USA Today. Harrison starred in the 1967 Dolittle film. “It would be really hip if they got one of those divas like Toni Braxton or Whitney Houston to do an adap tation of‘Talk to the Animals.’ But you won’t hear me sing it in a top hat to a two-headed llama.” JTT Thursday March 27 Jazztop, a rock band from Bryan- College Station, is playing at Dixie Theatre at 9 p.m. Lost Prophets, a rock band from Bryan-College Station, is playing at Club Ozone at 9 p.m. Billy Pritchard, a singer and co median, is performing at Chelsea Street Pub and Grill at 9 p.m. pop poppins, a rock band from Dallas, is playing a CD release show at Marooned Records at 5 p.m. and at 3rd Floor Cantina at 9 p.m. Sneaky Pete, a sing-a-long artist from Bryan-College Station, is per forming at the Cow Hop at 9 p.m. Ty & The Semiautomatics, a rock band from Houston, is playing at Fitzwilly’s at 9 p.m. Dixie Theatre at 9 p.m. Ray Condo & His RicodPa^l mi a col John Reyna, a classicHuBxjJ cian from Bryan-College.SET playing at the Cow Hop at! f om ] In Elizabeth Wills, a folkrrmti from Bryan-College Station,sE yj at Sweet Eugene's HouseofiBya 9:30 p.m. Saturday March 29 Ty & The Semiautomatics Friday March 28 Ruthie Foster, a R&B band from Bryan-College Station, is playing at 3rd Floor Cantina at 9 p.m. Blue Earth, a rock bar Bryan-College Station, is play Jibe, a rock band from Dallasl Cow Hop at 9 p.m. Lost Prophets, a rock bait Bryan-College Station, is play Superband Wasteband, a rob from Bryan-College Statin: Fitzwilly’s at 9 p.m. r m '■ Ruthie Foster Billy Pritchard, a singer and co median, is performing at Chelsea Street Pub and Grill at 9 p.m. Ray Condo & His Ricochets, a western swing band, is playing at Lost Prophets Billy Pritchard, a singerai,' median, is performing at Cl Street Pub and Grill at 9 p.m, Texas Twisters, a cfesW band, is playing at 3rd at 9 p.m. Miranda Zent, an alternaferf sician from Bryan-College Station, playing at Sweet Eugene’s Java at 9:30 p.m. s J One small step for you. . .
