The country singer and Maccarrone, an airline baggage handler, finally met face-to-face six months after she heard him crying for help from the cargo bay as her plane pre pared to take off from Seattle. “Thank God for you, or I’d have been in serious trou ble,” Maccarrone said Monday on the Prime Time County show on The Nashville Network. A supervisor had closed the baggage compartment not realizing Maccarrone was still working there. “We were about to back up from the gate, and I felt underneath my feet that someone was pounding and screaming,” said Yearwood. “I thought, ‘Maybe I’m just nuts.’” Yearwood alerted an attendant and Maccarrone, from Tacoma, Wash., was rescued.
