Fysher
Continued from Page 3
Fysher has gained acclaim for
the strength of its original songs.
The band has about 15 originals in
its repertoire.
“Right now, we don’t write to
gether,” Buckley said. “One of us
comes up with an idea, and it’s
the bare backbone of the song.”
“Personally, I love our songs,”
Beadle said. “My personal goal is to
make a song out of a Shakespeare
an sonnet.”
The band plays the occasional
cover, but avoids more well-known
songs, Buckley said.
“The covers we do aren’t
mainstream,” he said. “Most are
totally obscure.”
Fysher’s name came from a sug
gestion by an acquaintance of the
band, Buckley said.
“We racked our brains togeth
er, but everything just sounded
stupid,” he said. “Finally, our
friend came up with ‘Fysher’,
and we couldn’t come up with
any reason why it was a bad
name. It didn’t say anything
about us, and we like to let our
music speak for itself." |

First Grammy surprises First LadjVi
NEWYORK (AP) — Now she is the
first lady AND a Grammy winner.
Hillary Rodham Clinton’s book
on child rearing, “It Takes a Vil

The book spent 20 weeks on best

Clinton, seemingly out of place
among musicians like Smashing
Pumpkins and Celine Dion, found
out she was a winner more than
two hours before the televised
ceremony of the 39th annual
Grammy Awards began.
