Her father, Miguel Angel Garcia, was charged with murder. Two months earlier she had been taken to a hospital with a suspicious head injury her parents couldn’t explain, but was returned to her home. As a result, CPS officials are in augurating new procedures aimed at preventing future fatalities. “I’m real impressed that [CPS] has taken this tragic situation and tried to make the department bet ter,” said El Paso County District Attorney Jaime Esparza. “I applaud them for reviewing the case and changing their policies.” Student discusses exploits in essay SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A high school teacher at Alamo Heights High School certainly found a way to liven up things in his class. He asked his students to write an essay on something that hap pened in their lives. A senior wrote and read aloud a story about him and a friend pick ing up two women in a bar. Class mates say he went into graphic de tail about a sexual encounter that he said followed. Other students and several par ents complained, and the teacher’s in trouble. Superintendent Jerry Christ ian says “appropriate action" has been taken, but wouldn't go into detail.
