The McDonald’s on University Drive and on Southwest Parkway started accepting Texas A&M’s Aggie Bucks last Thursday. Bobbi Doyle, the local store marketing representative, said the implementation was simple. “We had a meeting with the Aggie Buck people and they showed us how easy it would be to do it,” Doyle said. “We’re kind of like an experiment ... We’re working out all the bugs with them. We’re like their pi lot restaurant.” Even though McDonald’s is the first off-campus restaurant to accept Aggie Bucks, off-campus book stores started taking them last fall. Lewis Rose, a manager at the University Drive McDonald’s, said business prompted them to turn to Aggie Bucks. “The managers got together and decided to do it to draw more people,” Rose said. “The main thing is to draw more business. The summer is just slow and in the fall, we’re going to be slammed with business.” With the Underground Food Court closing early on Sundays, McDonald’s offers a place where students can still use their Aggie Bucks. Doyle said this was one of the motivating factors in in stalling the system. “When the Underground closes on weekends, this is an opportu nity to have a good meal on Sun day evening, a little variety,” Doyle said. “It’s tough when stu dents don’t have a place to eat and have to use their own funds.” Rachel Frady, a junior animal science major, said she likes the ease of using Aggie Bucks. “I love it,” Frady said. “It’s so convenient because I live off cam pus. I have Aggie Bucks and am not on campus much. At the end of every semester, I have lots of money left and now I’m going to be broke.” Aggie Bucks seem like an unlimited amount of free mon ey to students. Jarrett Herring, a senior com puter science major, said he now plans to use his Aggie Bucks more often. “Now you don’t have to mess with nickels and dimes,” Herring said. “All you have fo do is swipe the card. A lot of people are going to use them more because parents pay and it’s free McDonald’s.” In addition to Southwest Park way and University Drive loca tions, the McDonald’s being built on George Bush will also install the Aggie Bucks system. Stacy Muller, a senior bioenvironmental science ma jor, said she found out about Aggie Bucks at McDonald’s when she returned to College Station last week. by Chuck Johnson LSAT Law schools prefer higher LSAT scores Our proven techniques and focused, results-oriented approach can help you get the scores that open doors. small classes (8-15 students) extensively trained, dynamic instructors practice on 4 full-length timed tests the most up-to-date materials dramatic score improvement Classes Start Saturday August 24.
