He said A&M’s Student Ser vices Fee is one of the few that falls below the state’s Si50 limit. The Department of Recreation al Sports receives about SI.3 mil lion each year from the SSFAC, part of which is used to support administrative salaries for 3i full time staff members. A separate Rec Center fee of S50 per student per semester goes toward staffing, equipment and utility payments for the building. Another mandatory fee is the computer access fee, which is S5 per semester credit hour. John Dinkel, associate provost for Computing and Infor mation Services, said the fee ap pears on billing statements as one $5 fee, but is actually three combined fees. Three dollars of the $5 per-se- mester-credit-hour fee is for the original computer access fee, which provides access to general computing resources at A&M. Evans Library. The new facility will house about 600 microcomputers and will have a large informal study group area, where portable or lap top computers will be available. Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin this semes ter and should be completed by Fall 1997.
