For some students though, the efforts of the registrar’s office are not enough. Fliers from stu dents are littered across campus asking to pur chase extra tickets. Some students like Mark Jeffrey, a senior man agement major, have given up hope of finding ex tra tickets. “I have a little sister and a fiancee who are go ing to watch me graduate in Rudder (Theater) be cause I just don’t have enough tickets,” he said. “We all have the same problem. “I could easily have invited five or 10 more peo ple who would gladly come. I would love to get tickets, but I just don’t think that it is going ’ 0 happen.” Seniors Continued from Page 1 Osborne joined The Dallas Morning News staff in 1980 af ter leaving the Associated Press, where he served as managing editor for 20 years. Awards to Osborne credit in clude the 1992 National Press Foundation George David Bev eridge Jr. Award for Editor of the Year and the Pat Taggart Texas Newspaper Leader of the Year Award in 1993. Osborne holds degrees from Marshall University and Long Island University and is a grad uate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. Halbouty holds three degrees from A&M in geology and petro leum engineering, as well as an engineering doctorate from Mon tana College of Mineral Science Skefeh and Technology. The geologist has been recog nized internationally by engi neer . ing societies and is the namesake of A&M’s geosciences building. Lloyd Ward, Frito-Lay Com pany’s central division presi dent, will be the guest speaker Saturday morning. Prior to working for Frito-Lay Central, Ward was president of Frito-Lay West, vice president of Pepsi Cola East, general manag er for Procter & Gamble Compa ny and section manager for Ford Motor Company. Ward has degrees from Michi gan State University and Xavier University. Ward said the ceremony is a terrific and exciting opportunity for him to visit a college campus and see the emerging talent in this country. He said he plans to offer graduates insight into the power in oneself to make a difference. “I have five points for gradu ates to go by when facing the challenges of the real world,” he said, “because these are future leaders of the next generation.” Ward called the five strate gies “daring to dream,” “operat ing from imagination and not memory,” “walking with the ele phants,” “being a maniac with a mission” and “loving adversity and challenges.” Sheran Riley, assistant to the University president, said all the speakers have expertise in their fields and will be able to give graduates good advice. “We pretty much leave it up to them exactly what to talk about,” Riley said. “The only ma jor guidelines we ask for is to keep the speech between 12 to 15 minutes.” Don Gardner, assistant regis trar, said all the speakers were a good choice but the ceremony highlights for students may not completely be on the speakers. “For some students the high light is getting the diploma in their hand and everything else is n’t as important,” Gardner said.
