Sunday, Aggie Alliance will host Run For Jared, a fun run to raise money to pay for the heart he desperately needs. Jackie Stone, a member of Aggie Al liance and a senior kinesiology major, said she met Price as counselor at Col lege Station Day Camp. “Jared came to camp two summers ago,” Stone said. “What touched me most about Jared was that he was quiet and not very Price MNHHH CU CU VVClO UHLAV ^ jy S' J out going. One time we went to Splash Town, and he stayed with me because he was tired. He held on to my hand the whole time. He was scared, and it made me want to help him.” Price was born with a congenital heart defect. He has already undergone open- heart surgery. Stone said that for years, his heart has been functioning fine. "Jared did have open-heart surgery when he was a baby, and he was diagnosed as OK,” Stone said. “He has only been living on one side of his heart. Lately, he has been fa tigued, and the doctor said his heart is wearing out.” Stone said Jared is extremely strong. The doctors say if he can hold out until he can get a pew heart, he will be OK. Members of MSC Town Half have been helping with publicity for the run. Tom Doming, a member of Town Hall and a senior elementary education major, was also a counselor when Jared was at the day camp. “I’m really excited about the run,” Dem- ing said. “Every $10 entry fee goes straight into his account. He is on a waiting list fora heart transplant, and that is an extremely expensive operation.” Stone said that when she heard Price needed a new heart, she wanted to find a way to help. “I hadn’t seen Jared since summer camp,” Stone said. “My roommate told me when she found out it was Jared. I suggest ed to Aggie Alliance that it would help raise money, and here we are.” Deming said Jared is just like any other 11 year old. “Jared just turned 11,” Deming said. “He is basically just your average kid. He is a good kid.” Why Wait? The Princeton Review's Early Access program lets you start preparing for the April MCAT this semester! Friday Saturday Take a full-length diagnostic MCAT!
