The Corps ‘tradition,’ as they see it, is to protect Kyle Field and to keep people off the field following games. Once people have gotten onto the field, however, your job has failed and you had no legal oblig ation to run them down, throw them to the turf, and begin to beat and kick them as they lay defenseless on the ground. Not only were these Corps member’s an embarrassment to the Corps but they disgraces the entire University as well. The Corps prides itself on be ing the last keepers of the Tradi tions of Texas A&M and also pride themselves on harassing anyone who has not followed in their path into the Corp. If what thej d Saturday is a ‘tradition,’ 1 would rather not be a part of a University that con dones such activities. Maybe the Corps should real ize just who is an embarrass ment. The answer to that ques tion stares each and every Corps member in the face when they look in the mirror. The University should realize this, but it won’t. All we can do is continue to be embarrassed as we continue to live in the Dark Ages on this campus, which is only killing what once was a great university. Steven L. Spence Class of ’95 • I have been thoroughly dis gusted, once again, by the editori- Mail Call al staff of our beloved Battalion. Although the actions of the 12th Man might not have been completely appropriate, Chris Stidvent took it upon himself to insult and degrade every aspect of the school and traditions I have grown to love over the years. It is sad that a man paid to rep resent our school can have such a lack of respect for the traditions our school pride is based upon. The last time I checked, the re spect we show for Kyle Field is not a “relatively obscure tradition.” It is a debt of gratitude we owe to the Aggies who have given their lives in battle to protect our country and university. As far as the Aggie Code of Honor is concerned, it still bums bright among my friends. If some one gives their “Aggie Word,” it will be upheld no matter what. I feel badly for Chris Stid vent, a man who was moronic enough to spend four years at a university that obviously dis gusted him so greatly. I wish he would have picked a different school, making room for more people that might love A&M just half as much as us “poor alumni.” Nick Stroh Class of ’95 • As a proud member of the class of 1996, I eagerly awaited my senior Elephant Walk, Bon fire, and t.u. game. The pride I felt during Elephant Walk was in describable—something that must truly be experienced. My pride swelled even more at Bonfire as 50,000 Aggies united to support Texas A&M. The game, however, was a different story. For the first time in four years I was disappointed in the actions of the yell leaders; dur ing half time they brought the 12th Man down to the classless level of the t-sips. Perhaps the most disappoint ing sight, however, was that of t- sips getting attacked by Aggies. The t-sips showed extremely poor sportsmanship by defiling Kyle Field and Aggie war veter ans but that was no excuse for the violence that followed. Although I don’t want to belittle those Ags that were protecting Kyle Field, I felt their rage andvi olence should have been avoided. Those juvenile t-sips that did run out on the field definitely should have been pursued and promptly escorted off. The use of fists only served to make the 12th Man look classless as well. The class of ’96 has never lost a game at Kyle Field; we certainly didn't lose this one with dignity. As a member of the class of 1996 I don't want to condone this type of behavior as good bull; this incident will be forever associat ed with my senior class. To future classes: this incident is not the way you want to end one of the most important weeks ol your senior career—learn from it; and show more honor than was shown this weekend. Rebekah Stevenson \ Class of'% • We did not fully appreciate ] the 12th Man till the time ran out] during the A&M vs. t.u. game. ■ We are so proud of our football team. We’re proud of our fish in ] the Corps, proud of the high class we have and proud of all the true Ags that stayed the whole time ] and sang the “12th Man.” We now know what it means ] to be an Aggie. We still have not lost a halftime, and now is the time for a new winning streak at Kyle Field. For those disrespectful t-sips, all we have to say is, we are so sorry that you still act as so im mature, and are sore winners. : Ags, Beat the Hell Outta I Michigan, and of course, kick I butt against t.u. next year.
