A < >< V. p !f: ^ ' * mm Lf.#4J \ u rf i Hi i p * Evan Zimmerman, The Battto Seniors Suzy Wente and Andrea Williams guard the net againstUH, □ The five Lady Aggie seniors will be honored tonight. By Tom Day The Battalion Following exhausting road trips to Hawaii and Utah, the Lady Ag gie Volleyball Team returned home Sunday tired but satisfied. After suffering a two-match sweep to the University of Hawaii 10 days ago, the road-weary Ag gies put together two, five-game comeback victories over No. 23 Brigham Young University and unranked Utah last weekend. Senior setter Suzy Wente said the team’s rigorous travel schedule had a major influence on the team’s play. “Going to Hawaii tired us out a little bit, so we felt we didn’t play up to our full potential this week end,” senior setter Suzy Wente said. “In the majority of the games we played, we were down 11-5 or 11-2 but, we came back and won the game.” A&M Head Coach Laurie Cor- belli said the team’s five-game vic tories were valuable confidence builders. “I was extremely proud of their comebacks,” Corbelli said. “To be down like that and to fight back was something we haven’t been able to accomplish in the past. It was definitely a highlight of our season, in that respect.” Unfortunately, there is no rest for the weary as A&M returns to the spotlight tonight. The 17- ranked Lady Aggies (17-4)nil take on the the University)! Texas-Arlington in their last toi match of the regular season at7 Rollie White Coliseum at 7 p.m. “(Fatigue) may be a factor,’ Corbelli said. “We’ve been on bad to-back road trips and our play ts suffered a little bit because of that, “Hopefully we’ll get the oppor tunity to test out some thinfi we’re really focusing on in pradict with our blocking and individual defensive play. ” UTA (12-14), enters the conte on a bit of a roll, having wonfoui of their last five matches, Tht Mavericks are led by Heather Hot and Dawn Foley. Hoy leads UTi with 325 kills and a .236 hittinj percentage, while Foley has con tributed 887 assists. “They’re a young team builfc a program, but they have experi enced coaches,” Corbelli said. “They have size in the middle and some versatility at the outside hit ting position.” Wente, who surpassed the 5,000 career assists plateau against BYU, said the Lady Aggies should be well prepared to deal with the Mavericks’ blocking game. “They have a big block,’ Wente said. “But we faced BYU this weekend, and they have the No, 1 block in the nation, so I think we’re ready.” Tonight’s contest will also be a special occasion for three A&M se- niors playing their final home match. Wente and outside hitters Andrea Williams and Dana Santleben will be honored ina pregame ceremony.
