APO accepts a new pledge class every semester with a new pledge president and offi cers. The fraternity has about 130 pledges this semester. Pledges are required to do 45 service hours and to attend meetings and fellowship activi ties during the semester. Johnson said the high involve ment required helps the pledges feel comfortable about joining a service fraternity. “It shows them what APO is about,” she said. “It helps them get involved. They learn about how it works.” "UT currently has the largest chapter. Even with less members, we are able to do twice as much." — Casey Conner president of Alpha Phi Omega Johnson said the large number of pledges each semester is bene ficial to the community. “It just does a lot more for the community and A&M to have so many people in APO,” she said. Walters said taking pledges twice a year also brings in more potential friends. “A whole new group of people come in, so there’s a lot more peo ple to meet,” Walters said. “Everyone gets excited about showing APO to the pledges.” Walters said the fraternity does a lot of its projects off campus but it still benefits the Univemity. "We do so much for the corn* munlty,” she said, "Older pee* pie think college people run around and party all the time. When we’re out there, they know we’re from A&M. We show them that students enjoy doing good things for the community.” Sk@ti(sh By Quatro 3rd Cantina FiQDR 823-2368 rilM/ll 201 W. 26th St.., Downtown liry.in ive Bands lusic un reness for the will be on thef 3 40 hours! 15 p.m. tivities SKOURADIMRY TVSDAY IN THE BATTALION!
