As the team’s top runner,
Etchberger feels some pres
sure to perform at a high lev
el. However, she said any
heat she feels is due to the
expectations she places on
herself.
“I put most pressure on
myself,” Etchberger said. “I
set high goals and only ex
pect the best of myself. I
don’t feel it from anyone
else.”
“She’s very conscientious
of how people perceive her,”
Hinze said. “She tries not to
come off as too standoffish
and her teammates really
admire her.”
For all her success in run
ning, Etchberger said there
are several variables that
can aid her cause in meets.
For instance, weather can
have an influence on her re
sults.
“I love cold weather,”
Etchberger said. “A lot of
people don’t like it, but I’ve
had some of my best meets
in cold weather.”
On Monday, Etchberger

this, her final season, for an

“It’s no big secret that
she’s one of my favorite run
ners on the team, and I wish
for her to go out with all the
accolades and honors that
she can possibly earn,” Hinze
said.
“It would mean a great

“I’ve worked hard the past
